Community Workshops and Programs

Ghawazee Moon Bellydance offers a variety of Programs and Workshops for Community groups. Samina is qualified under the Ausdance Skill Set for Dance Teachers recommended for teaching dance within the community and our dance school holds the appropriate public liability insurances.

Playgroupers will enjoy a workshop which encourages children and parents to join in the fun. Create musical instruments, learn an arabic rhythm and dance! Samina is an ex-playgroup convenor and co-ordinator and has previously conducted workshops and performances for the ACT Playgroups Association.

Youth Groups and Community Service Providers are offered both workshops and long-term programs (from 1 to 4 terms in duration). These workshops and programs are aimed particularly at girls and women, though can be altered to suit mixed groups.

"Bellydance is such a beautiful dance form. The emphasis on emotional expression, rather than story-telling, allows dancers to really get into the music - to feel it. The fact that this dance embraces women of all shapes and sizes encourages us to celebrate womanhood in all it's forms, at every age."

Samina Amar ~ Principal Instructor

Mothers' Groups, Craft Groups and similar Social Groups (including Seniors!) will enjoy a break from usual activities with a fun bellydance workshop. Learn some moves and put them together in an easy and enjoyable choreography!

Samina has a costume box for those who really want to get into the swing of things.

Performances can be included, either a solo, duet or the entire student troupe, depending upon availablility.

Folkloric Bellydance focuses on the traditional philosophy of bellydance as a form of artistic and emotional expression and a social activity. Men and women, boys and girls can all enjoy this traditional and inclusive dance form which focuses more on what a body can do than what a body looks like, working against common myths about body image, stereotyping as well as the media and consumer driven expectations on older and younger men and women alike. Contact Samina for more information or make a time to discuss how a program or workshop can be tailored to suit your community group.
