Dance . Music . Costuming . Social Events

Registrations for 2019 Summer Workshops are now open.
EARLY BIRD* ENDS Thursday 13 December 2018.

Everyone is welcome to register for workshops and join in the social events - you don't need to be a Ghawazee Moon student to come along. Summer workshops are a great way for you to learn something new, give bellydancing a try, or just keep up your practice over the break.

Workshop teachers are drawn from local bellydance schools in recognition of the high quality of teaching and variety of expertise in our region.

The end of summer Hafla and Market is a great way to get in some social dancing, try out your percussion skills, maybe even perform some combos or choreographies you have learnt during the workshops. You can also grab yourself some new or pre-loved bellydance costumes, props & accessories before Term 1 begins.

All workshops have maximum & minimum numbers.

A Summer Pass is amazing value with your choice of up to
10 workshops (valued at $325) for only $230 at the Early Bird Rate!!

Have you attended summer workshops? We'd love your feedback!

*To access Early Bird rates, fees must be paid in full on or before 13 December 2017.

Bronwyn

Bronwyn has more than 20 years experience in folkloric and and ATS® belly dance, captivating audiences with her serpentine movements and holding their attention with a mesmerising stage presence and that Mona Lisa smile.

In this workshop Bronwyn will show you how slowing it down adds power and presence to your dance and will help you get the most out of your fluid moves. Gain confidence and milk the full dramatic potential of slower music without fear of losing the interest of your audience.

Suitable for dancers in all styles, Beyond Beginners to Advanced, this workshop will explore how to create dramatic tension without losing your momentum, and leave you with a series of movement combinations that can be performed as a hypnotic standalone choreography, or repurposed for your own use.

Choreography Theory
Samina Amar

A lot of bellydance choreography comes from simply responding to the music. A little like a recorded improvisation, we often allow the music to take us where we need to go, and stop there.

In this workshop, you'll learn different ways to approach the choreographic process, and take your choreographies to the next level. You'll look at the theory behind some of your choices in dance making, and then learn how to consciously apply those theories to create solo and group choreographies that will really "wow" your audiences.

Notes will be provided. Bring a pen/pencil.

No choreographic experience required.

Stage Prescence & Polish
Jacqui

Have you ever noticed you can watch a group of dancers, all performing the same moves, but for some reason you will be drawn to watching one particular dancer the whole time?

In this workshop we will be using both group discussion and practical elements to explore what contributes to giving dancers that captivating X factor, and how to transform the technique you learn in class into a performance fit for the stage!

Using some fun bellydance combos we will play with them to unlock your individual performance style, and work through some technical tips and tricks to add those polished finishing touches.

Assumed Knowledge: base bellydance technique.
