Life is short and there will always be dirty dishes, so let's dance.
James Howe, Totally Joe
It doesn't matter what shape, size, age, or gender you are - bellydance makes everyone feel great. If you're an absolute beginner looking to start dancing, or an experienced bellydancer looking to expand your repertoire and self-expression, you've come to the right place. Classes are supportive, encouraging and will keep you inspired.

You can learn a range of bellydance styles, with classes teaching technique, choreography and improvisation in Sha'abi, Folk-Baladi, Sai'idi, Golden Era, Reda-Styled Folkloric, and various Fusions from Dubstep through to Swing.

If other commitments are keeping you from classes, or you just prefer one-on-one tuition, we also offer private lessons in our Home Studio, or Online.

Classes are taught by Sam, and held at Nellie Hall in Melba and our Home Studio in Macgregor. Both venues have access to water, bathrooms and mirrors. Our lunchtime online class for those who can't get out to in-person classes is currently on hold.

Do you have questions? Check our FAQs, send us an email or give Sam a call (or text) on 0403020796.

KIDS CLASSES

Our open level kids (ages 4-10) classes teach core dance and Middle-Eastern Dance movement through games, props, experimentation, free dancing (improvisation), choreography and world music.

Costumes are age-appropriate, and our movement vocabulary is drawn primarily from folk dances of the Middle-East.

These classes include Creative Dance, Core Middle-Eastern Dance Movement & Middle-Eastern Rhythm Exploration. They are ideal for young dancers keen to explore movement and music outside of a standard western-style dance class.

($100 Earlybird) ($95 Family)

This term we will be rehearsing for our Annual Showcase.
As always, we will explore creative and core dance and bellydance movements through games, improvisation and percussion.

Classes make space for personal expression as we learn to appreciate and celebrate our own, and others, artistry and abilities. We work both individually and in small groups to develop musicality, gross and fine motor skills, cultural knowledge, and an environment that is welcoming to all.

Find out more about Kids Classes in our FAQ.

While choreographies learned in class are for performance at our Annual Showcase, performing is always optional - there is no pressure to get on stage. Students can participate fully in classes whether they choose to perform or not.

YOUTH CLASSES

Youth classes (ages 11-16) get stuck into more challenging technique, props and choreographies. They expand on improvisation skills and begin developing their own style.

During this very impressionable age, being part of a bellydance community can counteract the potentially damaging messages from the media and advertising around young people's bodies and their place in society. Our young dancers are encouraged to take up space, love the body they're in and appreciate all the amazing things they can do.

If you're new to bellydancing and would like to get a head start on technique, private lessons are the way to go. They are also a great alternative if you can't regularly make classes or just prefer to learn solo.

For continuing students, private lessons are a great way to work on technique you are finding difficult, catching up on things you have missed, working on your improvisation, expanding your repertoire or perfecting a choreography from class.
